Anna Sadovnikova, MD, PhD, IBCLC, MPH, MA
Mammary gland biologist and Adjunct Professor of Breastfeeding Medicine
About Me
Anna Sadovnikova, MD, PhD is a physician-scientist whose work bridges mammary gland biology, breast pathology, and lactation medicine. She is an incoming Anatomic Pathology resident at Stanford University (July 2026) and Research Director of the LILAC Fellowship in Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine at the University of Rochester — the world's first and only fellowship program in breastfeeding medicine.
Her research centers on the nipple-areolar complex: defining the biological mechanisms of low milk production, characterizing nipple skin pathology, and developing non-invasive optical biopsy tools with AI-powered diagnostics for point-of-care diagnosis of nipple conditions. She is the founder and former CEO of LiquidGoldConcept, whose high-fidelity lactation simulators reached clinicians in over 30 countries.
Dr. Sadovnikova holds an MD and PhD in Mammary Gland Biology from UC Davis, an MPH in Human Nutrition and MA in Russian/Eastern European Studies from the University of Michigan, and a BA in Molecular Biology and Comparative Literature from UC Berkeley. She is a board-certified lactation consultant (IBCLC) and breastfeeding medicine physician.
Let’s Work Together
